More about UV STANDARD 801The fabric of the women's swim shorts is a tightly woven UV-Tech 231 double jersey made of 74 % polyamide and 26 % elastane — engineered for high UV-protection performance while remaining breathable. Certified to UV STANDARD 801 by the Hohenstein Institute (NB 0555) and classified as EU PPE Category I under Regulation 2016/425. The UPF value is preserved not only dry but also across multiple wash cycles, in salt and chlorine water, and under normal wear-and-stretch conditions — as explicitly tested in the UV STANDARD 801 protocol.
The fit is cut to standard proportions but rests slightly closer to the body — a deliberate choice so the shorts stay in place during stand-up paddling, swimming, or beach volleyball. Flatlock seams and an elastic waistband retain full range of motion. Each pair also features zipped pockets with branded uveekai zip pullers — keeping keys, cards, or essentials safely stowed at the beach or by the pool.
All models are machine-washable at 30 °C on the delicate cycle and retain their UPF protection permanently. Care instructions are listed on each product page.
UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor, the UV protection factor for textiles. UPF 80 is the highest of the certification levels in UV STANDARD 801 (UPF 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 60 and 80) (Source: uvstandard801.com), certified by the Hohenstein Institute. Mathematically, only about one eightieth of the sunburn-effective UV radiation passes through the fabric – tested wet, stretched and after multiple washes, in salt and chlorine water as well as under normal wear.
